As we cross the mighty River Shannon into Connacht, our destination is the vibrant city known as 'the city of the tribes' - Galway. This city is not only full of character but also boasts a plethora of delightful culinary options.
We'll then venture into the untamed wilderness of Connemara, a region renowned for its mist-shrouded mountains, untamed moorlands, and mysterious lakes. Along the mountain-fringed shores of Killary fjord, you'll have a hands-on experience at Tom's sheep farm, including an engaging sheepdog demonstration. Depending on the group's preferences, we may also have the chance to capture breathtaking panoramic views of Connemara from the summit of Diamond Hill, which stands at an impressive 442 meters (1,450 feet). Alternatively, we could opt for the Maumean pilgrim trail, a historic gathering spot for Celtic harvest celebrations that later evolved into a shrine dedicated to Ireland's patron saint, Patrick.

Today, you have the first option to embark on a guided tour of the renowned Aughnanure Castle tower, a historic stronghold that served as the ancestral residence of the formidable O'Flaherty clan. Afterward, our journey continues toward 'the city of the tribes' - Galway, a place brimming with atmosphere and a vibrant culinary scene. As we make our way, keep an eye out for the distinctive black-hulled Hooker sailing vessels dotting the waters of Galway Bay.
Along the way, we'll pause for a fantastic photo opportunity at the coastal Dunguaire Castle, situated just beyond the charming village of Kinvara. Our adventure then takes us into the captivating realm of the Burren region, renowned for its otherworldly limestone terrain and remarkably diverse plant life. Don't miss the chance to marvel at the Poulnabrone Dolmen, an archaeological marvel that predates even the pyramids of Egypt!

Tonight, you'll find your accommodations at Spanish Point House, a delightful family-owned boutique guesthouse with a period charm and stunning coastal views. A short stroll across the road will take you to the Armada Hotel for a delectable dinner.

Through the Gates of the Kingdom
Today, we continue along the stunning Atlantic coastline, making our way southward from Spanish Point to County Kerry, known as "The Kingdom." Keep an eye out for dolphins as we ferry across the Shannon River, Ireland and Britain's longest river.
Lunch will be at a scenic spot chosen by your guide, or you can opt for a picnic. For adventure enthusiasts, Castlegregory offers excellent surfing opportunities (Tour Option). If you prefer a quieter experience, explore one of Ireland's most beautiful beaches.
You can also hike the glaciated Annascaul valley, a challenging 1-hour, 30-minute trek with rugged terrain. Then, enjoy a pint at the South Pole Inn and hear about its Antarctic explorer landlord, Tom Crean. Dingle awaits with a variety of dining and entertainment options, and you'll have free time to explore. Your accommodation for tonight and tomorrow will be at the Dingle Skellig or Dingle Bay hotels.

This morning, we venture into the Beara Peninsula, a less-traveled gem. Expect rough roads, stunning vistas, and encounters with local livestock causing traffic delays. Exploring ancient stone circles is a favorite Irish activity, and Beara offers many. Their original purpose remains a mystery, allowing your imagination to run free.
We'll admire the cloud-covered Caha mountains during a scenic drive up Healy Mountain Pass, known for its winding roads. Your guide will recommend a lunch spot, whether it's a coastal picnic at Bullig Bay or pub fare in Castletownbere.
We'll delve deeper into the unexplored Beara Peninsula. Depending on your preference, we'll either challenge the Vagatron's off-road capabilities with an exploration of abandoned copper mines or lead you on a secret coastal adventure. Our journey continues with a coastal drive along Bantry Bay, offering fleeting glimpses of beauty—a black stallion, a serene lake with a mute swan, and a welcoming farmer outside a colorful cottage.
You'll come to appreciate West Cork's motto, "a place apart." Tonight's accommodation and dinner options include the family-owned Gougane Barra Hotel or the Castle Hotel in Macroom.

Before we part ways, there are still some Irish highlights to savor. We'll follow the scenic path along the River Lee, passing through picturesque countryside adorned with charming cottages and traditional Irish farming scenes.
Next up, it's time to embrace the famous Blarney Stone tradition. Following that, take your time exploring the extensive grounds and beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding Blarney Castle.
We'll arrange lunch either near Blarney or at our next destination, the historic Rock of Cashel monastery. Concluding our journey with a self-guided walk through the remarkable Rock of Cashel is a fitting farewell. This site epitomizes many elements you've encountered throughout your tour: a rich and intricate history, breathtaking natural surroundings, splendid architecture, and a profound human connection.
